sally englund

My friend Theresa texted me pictures of this macrame headboard from a store in Portland called Golden Rule. It turns out it’s a piece by the artist Sally Englund (and part of the store’s Invitation To Sleep group show) who works in macrame often, making incredible custom room dividers using thick cotton rope and sometimes incorporating EL thread to add a glowing component (you can see it in the picture on the right).

Her work “specializes in creating imaginative spaces and meaningful objects…exploring ways to re-introduce the value of traditional domestic craft in a culture becoming evermore dependent on new technologies.”

But she seriously had me at macrame.

I want this as a headboard, immediately.

She also made this incredible diorama.

See more of Sally Englund’s work here.
