I recently started collaborating with Alissa on a series of stories for the new york times T Magazine. I’m really proud of these stories because 1) it means collaborating with Alissa, a friend and a writer whom I admire, 2) we’re covering very east side LA specific people and businesses which fills me with LA pride.
The most recent story is about another collaboration: between catering and party planning masters, Heirloom LA and style mavens and shop owners, Poketo and the street food event they threw recently. Read the whole story here.

In a surprising turn, German Glamour featured me as one of their favorite bloggers, alongside the likes of Dabito! They rightly chose Tracy’s house as the big spread. Love that house. And thanks to Michelle Pullman for taking a photo of me even though my face does weird things when a camera is pointed at it.

Hi. I’m spending less time around here since I started working on an updated portfolio and launched my posters (I love seeing them in other people’s spaces, like Lisa’s and Erin’s!). I’m also trying, with varying degrees of success, to disconnect from the computer and the internet every once in a while. For some perspective. For some quiet. For some rest.
I’m filling the well in other ways. Like reading. I’m reading Swimming Studies and loving it. I just finished A Hologram for the King” and wasn’t disappointed. I’m a dave eggers fan, though, so there’s that. In the queue are The Pale King by David Foster Wallace and Just Kids, Patti Smith’s Memoir. Reading is fun.
I’m walking more. Attempting to sleep more. And thinking about what things might be ahead. What other things I might want to do, creative and otherwise. Lots of questions and the space around them to wait for an answer.
I’m thinking about simple ways I can be nice to myself. Simple things that make me feel full. I’m not much of a shopper but I got myself new jeans. They are part of my shooting uniform, along with the only shoes I wear and simple tees. Having a functional uniform for shoot days is something that gives me enormous peace of mind. It’s the little things.
I have also been loving lily stockman’s thoughtful blog.

Hi friends. A couple of months ago I started making these big black and white posters of my photos for fun. It’s been so long since I’ve had my work be tangible and decorative that it was mainly an exercise in doing something new. I gave away a lot of the prints and have been rotating a bunch around my house. Well, the one I sent Summer ended up on instagram and there was an outcry to make the posters available. And I listen to the people. So … I launched a casual print shop today!
Visit the shop HERE!
I had originally planned to launch prints and postcards and posters next year, but the time is now, it turns out.
I’ll be adding to the shop as time goes on and have some fun collaborations for other prints on the horizon for the holidays so stay tuned. In the meantime, I’m offering 5 posters. They’re all black and white and 32″x48″ (so…huge) and are printed on normal paper, like a giant xerox. They’re fun! The price includes ground shipping. Don’t be surprised if the prints change, so if you see something you like, order it.

Thanks to Summer, Daniel, Sharon and Morgan for the kick in the pants. Also as a side note, if there is a photo of mine that you really really want to have as a poster and you don’t see it here, feel free to email studio (at) laurejoliet (dot) com with “PRINT” in the subject line and we’ll see what we can do!
Also worth noting that Hazel is super into these:

Claire Cottrell and Jordan Sullivan’s art book stand / book club popped up quietly on saturday afternoon in a cedar grove in griffith park and was, honestly, magic. The heat gave way to a California golden hour and the walk back down gave us views and inspiration for days. The stands themselves offered unusual/hard to find art books/zines/posters hand picked by people who love images, who love art.
Was thrilled to get to meet some internet friends in person: Dario! Lili! And to hang out with some faves. Hamish and Andi of vacation days. The loveliest Lauren and Claire.
Also, made me want to make images I can hold in my hand.
Thanks to Tracy and Scout Regalia for the great company.

Teamed up this week with the talented Alissa Walker who wrote up the brand new Moon Juice Shop in Silver Lake for T Magazine. I shot the photos and tasted all the things. And I totally approve. See and read the whole thing on T Magazine.
