east coast

Some highlights from a walk in the charles river peninsula just outside of boston. I spent a couple days in the area after my trip to new york and did very very little outside of relaxing, watching some garbage tv and taking this spectacular walk. We saw turtles, baby turtles, a nest of eggs, an old rail line, and lots and lots of reflections. I missed bougainvillea, of course, but the east coast made up for it in spades by offering up some beautiful rhodedendrons:

bougainvillea

Little excerpt from a shoot over the weekend. Los Angeles is in bloom and it is wonderful. Not too hot yet, a cool breeze, jean shorts, hot sidewalks, iced coffee,3 day weekends, bougainvillea.

flowers + polaroids

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Took a break over thanksgiving weekend and slowed down. Ended up splurging on these incredible flowers from cookbook and trying them on all over the house. Then I tested out my old polaroid (buy film here). Turns out this one doesn’t work. But I still like the results. More like paintings than pictures.

perfect flowers

Friday, August 19th, 2011

My dad had some japanese houseguests a while back and they left him this sweet little bouquet of flowers as a thank you. It’s so deceptively simple and perfectly elegant. I want to approach everything in life like this bouquet.

wild flowers

Grabbed these beauties at the flower mart early one morning while shopping for the show. I love how crazy and wild and delicate they are and am surprised I’ve never seen them before–do you know what they are?

I love letting peonies have their full life cycle. And then some. (Here’s how they started.)

peonies make everything better

Celebratory peonies, fridge full of food, yoga, a walk, meals with friends, and a good helping of tying up lose ends. Hoping I’m ready for the week ahead!

orchids + subtle big news

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Gramma’s orchids, in bloom, 5 years later, thanks to mom.

Happy weekend everyone. I’m doing some more work this weekend for the same place I was so excited about last week. Maybe you’ve heard of it? THE NEW YORK TIMES? Details next week!

hand picked

Bianca surprised me with a bouquet of scented geraniums, rosemary and sage straight from her garden. It is so so simple and lovely and is making the house smell incredible.

More mexico coming up next week, promise!

rue issue 3

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Last month I got a chance to meet Leila from Be Inspired PR for a shoot for the latest issue of Rue. It was great fun styling with Anne, Rue’s Executive Editor, and Carissa of JL Designs who’s a genius with flowers.

The shoot was at Leila’s sweet office which you can see more in this month’s issue of Rue along with her experience making over her office space. Thanks Ladies, had a great time with you!
